HARVY – CULTURE : THE CULTURE OF HARVESTING

“Food is a precious resource which is not a single person’s right to waste.”With this, as the
learning objective, Delhi Public School Varanasi celebrated its Annual Presentation “Harvy
Culture- the Culture of Harvesting” on Saturday, 17 th November 2018, in the school campus
from 5:30 in the evening. It was an evening filled with excitement and glitterati of the
students of class IV along with their parents as special guests.
Students put their best foot forward and performed with exceptional talent. The program
helped the children to learn how a farmer toils hard, day and night to produce the crop.
The program also included a township presentation of the European country Austria, under
the aegis of the celebration of ‘Bhartiya Pravasi Diwas.’ The Anchors Prisha, Aakhya,
Yamini, Ayan, Shayala and Ipshita began the program by welcoming the Chief Guest Prof.
TrilokNath Singh, Vice Chancellor, Kashi Vidyapeeth and Guest of Honour Mr. Anil Rai,
Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi. Mr. Mukesh Shelat, Principal,
DPS Varanasi presented the Annual Report of the school.
Annapurna strota was performed for the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, followed by a
melodious Bhojpuri song. Mesmerising dances of harvest celebration such as Pongal, Kut
festival, Nabanna and Baishakhi from the Indian subcontinent were presented flawlessly. The
other dances that kept the audience spell bound were the wheat Harvest of France and China,
Phaiyas festival of Philippines and Apple and grape festival and Chile.
The programtaught children the importance of food and not to waste it. The program
culminated with a short skit ‘Roti-Bank’ based on serving uneaten food through community
donation rather than throwing it in bins. The program came to an end on the high note of
creating Roti-banks to serve the hungry and needy.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Aishwarya followed by the National Anthem.
Mr Pankaj Rajgharia and Mrs Seema Rajgharia, the Directors of the institution graced the
occasion and showered their love and support towards the little stars of DPS Varanasi.
