To promote the spirit of creativity and innovative skills Delhi Public School Varanasi organized a two day event entitled FENESTRA- 2017, A Window of Light in its premises on 19 th and 20 th August. This grand program depicted a fine amalgamation of Science and Commerce through which students exhibited their praiseworthy talent. More than seventeen schools of Varanasi zestfully participated in this mega event. This initiation of Delhi Public School Varanasi was a great hallmark for students to open new vista of innovation and creation. The whole programme was efficiently propelled by the students. Professor Akhouri Vaishampayan,[Director, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU], graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The inaugural session commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by dignitaries. Teachers along with 325 participants from other schools registered their gracious presence as the event along with the students of Senior Secondary Wing of the host school. In his speech the Principal of the school revealed that this event will show a new highway to Science and Commerce students in terms of scientific
innovation and trade facilitation.
The Chief Guest in his address congratulated the host school for such a scholarly union of probing minds. The carnival commenced with a welcome speech by the student directors of Fenestra, Miheer Jain and Ananya Bhartiya, who along with the anchors introduced the events of the day. Dialogue, Math-e- magic, Wolf of Wall Street, Checkmates,Spotlight, Social Jagran, Face fantacy, Khamosh Adalat Zaari Hai, Codex, JAM,
Innovation and Ablaze were major episodes that offered tremendous opportunity to the contestants to show their creativity and skills.The event Dialogue was judged by Prof. Lata Dubey, Dr. Umesh Kumar and Dr. Amar Singh from English faculty of Banaras Hindu University. Checkmates, a quiz that sent an electric streak of enthusiasm among the participants, was conducted by Mr. Anupam Raghuvanshi, director of T.I.M.E. A unique event, Spotlight, that gave wings to the budding journalists, was judged by Mr. Arunoday Mukherjee, Senior Editor, CNN, News18 and Captain Praveen, the CEO of Moonlight Productions. Followed by this, was Social Jagran, which raised the burning topic of Inclusive Education, with the faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Chandrakala Tripathi, Dr. Vibha Tripathi, and Dr. Usha Sharma as the judges. The second day of this mega-event commenced with great exhilaration. The Head Boy, Rishabh Keshari and Literary Head, Ishika Arvindani extended a warm welcome to the guest schools and judges which was followed by lighting of the lamp.
The event Khamosh Adalat Zaari Hai was judged by Mr. Arunoday Mukherji. The next episode was Wolf of Wall Street which was judged by Mr. Gurmeet Singh [IMS]. Face Fantacy and Innovation, the events for the artistic at heart, were judged by Dr. Sangeeta Sinha, Dr. Dipanvita Roy, and Ms. Divya Srivastava [Faculty of Performing Arts, BHU]. Mr. Joytimay Shankar [System Manager, BHU] was the judge to observe Codex, a Web Designing competition. To top the cake with cherry, Ablaze was enjoyed by all and judged by the eminent personalities from the faculty members of Performing Arts, BHU. Professor M. K. Chaturvedi [Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, BHU] was the Chief Guest in the valedictory who presided the event and gave away the prizes. The session was successfully conducted by Cultural Heads, Anoushika Dubey and Ayush Rungta. Gratitude was expressed in the Vote of Thanks given by Akshay Agrawal, Literary Head.
Finally, the overall winner for the two-day event FENESTRA-17 was Kachhwa Christian School. The first runner up was St. John’s DLW and the second runner up was Central Hindu Boys School. The entire two day mega event was conceptualized,flawlessly executed by the students of XI-XII of DPS Varanasi leaving behind many memorable learning experiences to cherish.
