“KHOJ: AN INSIGHT INTO ONE’S SELF” AN OVERNIGHT CAMP REPORT Delhi Public School Varanasi organized an overnight camp “Khoj - an insight into one’s self” on 17 th -18 th March 2017 for the students of class V. Khoj was a platform where the children got an opportunity to become self-reliant and independent inculcating caring and sharing attitude. Day one commenced with an assembly where the students asked for god’s blessings with the help of Five Finger Prayer. The children were made aware of the significance and the symbolic representation of The Five Finger Prayer. The Ice-breaking session explored their individuality and connected them with other campers. It commenced with a balloon game followed by a video presentation which enriched the spirit of team building and helpfulness. CRAZY CRAFT – (Creativity at its best) The children presented an exhibition of their creativity by making paper handbags using old calendars and ribbons. Abhivyakti – (A theatrical workshop ) “The theatre was created to tell people the truth about life and social situation” –Stella. In this workshop our talented actors gave beautiful messages through moral stories enacting the characters in a lively manner. Thereafter the students got ready for the next session “Let’s play together”. Games like Hoola Hoop, Zip Zap Zoom, Tug of War and Hurdle race were true challenges for the students. The campers then geared up by putting on the dancing shoes around the Bonfire. Next day began with a morning raga followed by special Yoga and Meditation session. A video on -‘Introspection’ a session based on self reflection which is the source of inner happiness was shown to the students. The students were shown some videos on ‘Active Listening’ and told about the difference between hearing and listening. They were also given a questionnaire based on a poem recited by the teacher. The overnight camp concluded with a valedictory session wherein they expressed their experiences in the camp and pasted post its with their thoughts. It was a wonderful learning experience for the kids which they will cherish for years to come.
